Pitch Knot Heads are traditional carvings crafted from a section of occasional random Pine bough where the pitch (sugar sap) naturally collects in one spot. When that happens, the pitchy branch section is not good for burning or construction, but it carves beautifully.

Generations of mountain men, trappers, loggers and pioneers carved faces of gods, native peoples, and figures of legend and lore into the pitch knots. The beloved tradition continues today. We offer pitch knot heads that can hang and stand, in a variety of sizes and prices. Prices generally range from $65 to $95.
